Lineage Acknowledgement

I honor yoga as an ancient, sacred practice that originates in India and the broader South Asian region, with roots flowing from the spiritual and cultural waters of the Indus and Sarasvati river civilizations. This was long before borders, colonial violence, and cultural disconnection disrupted this lineage. Yoga emerges from the embodied wisdom and lived experiences of Black and Brown people who cultivated the practices for liberation, healing, and spiritual connection.

I offer deep reverence to the lands I now reside on: the unceded territories of the Tamien, Ramatush, and Awaswas peoples, part of the larger Ohlone (Costanoan) cultural group. I honor these Indigenous stewards of the land, past, present, and emerging.

As a descendant of the Muisca people of Colombia, I honor my own Indigenous bloodline and acknowledge the interconnected resistance, resilience, and ritual that ties ancestral traditions across the Global South.

With deep gratitude and humility, I bow to my teachers and mentors, to the teachers who came before them, and to my ancestors and guides in all forms. Each one is a presence that continues to walk beside me in sacred interconnection, guiding me along the divine path within.
