Yoga Studio Co-Op FAQs

  • Why a yoga studio co-op?

The vision is to create a teacher-run yoga studio rooted in collaboration where teachers feel empowered and supported. The purpose is to provide an alternative to traditional studio models that often disempower teachers. The aim is to cultivate a more balanced energetic exchange where teachers have a meaningful voice, help shape the direction of the studio, and feel truly supported in what they offer.

  • Who is financially investing?

The goal is to grow this co-op with support from a sangha that shares aligned values and a deep commitment to yoga. Through fundraising, crowdsourcing, and mutual aid, a simple and direct path can be offered for those who believe in collaborative, teacher-run spaces to contribute. By avoiding complex processes like grant applications or traditional investors, the focus stays on building a supportive, values-driven sangha rooted in the heart of yoga practice and community.

  • When is the expected launch?

The co-op is currently in its startup phase, which includes finalizing the legal structure and location, recruiting founding teachers and members, setting policies and budgets, and researching marketing strategies. A specific launch date hasn’t been set, as the process is guided by divine timing, allowing everything to unfold naturally and collaboratively.

  • What is the initial commitment?

At this early stage, the commitment might look like: 2–5 hours/month of collaborative planning (meetings, emails, heart-storming), helping with tasks (budgeting, researching spaces, outreach, etc.), and contributing additional time once key milestones are achieved.

  • How are decisions made?

Together. The co-op is intended to be a brave space to work democratically where everyone will have an equal voice. Working groups will most likely be formed (budget, location, marketing, etc.) and the use of voting or consensus will be implemented to move forward.

  • How can teachers get involved?

The idea is to gather a group of community-minded yoga teachers to help shape everything from the studio space and class schedule, the financial model, shared operations and marketing, studio values, structure, and long-term vision. This is a co-creation process and your voice in the room is critical from the start. Whether you’re ready to dive in or just want to learn more, reach out below to request a 1:1 chat.
